Thank you for the fine review. I do know if I had a Groma Gromina it would be one of my travel machines. I can't imagine taking my Studio 44 anyplace but around my house.
I love the contrast of the 2 machines side by side.
Its serial number places the machine in the "dark territory" between 1957 and 1964 - middle of the production period anyway. Maybe the perspective exaggerates a bit the size of the case.

that's quite a case - is that an earlier 44?

DeleteIt's more the pretty red covering on the case. Mine have all been plain yellowish material.
DeleteFunnily enough all the Studio 44s I saw (not that I saw too many of them ;) ) were in these red cases.
