I love the look of old power stations, especially Battersea. It's great that they are preserving the chimneys! A similar renovation saved the Lansing Board of Water and Light power station in Michigan, though the Chimney was torn down... (before http://www.thermalnetics.com/images/LBWL.jpg )
I really love the name too! Surprisingly enough, the municipal power agency is still known as the Board of Water and Light. Funny how old names stick. XD
That old power station is fantastic! I love exploring old power stations. The quality materials and design that was put into them far surpasses any modern building. I grew up near an abandoned power station and spent many hours exploring it and admiring the way it was built. Since then I have visited several. None had any kind of Open House tour though.
That Batersea power station has to be the most futuristic I have ever seen.

ReplyDeleteThat building looks very nice indeed - good to hear it was saved. And I like the name a lot! :)

DeleteIntegrating heritage structures with new building projects is always good news. That power station looks awesome.
