Spectacular, spectacular

  1. That looks fantastic! If there's one standard that a portables-only collector ought to hae, it's an Underwood 5 in that kind of condition. There's just something special about them. I owned a later model for a while, and I miss it now and then. I think I have room for one standard...

  3. How wonderful! It's in very nice condition, and to be the second owner ... that is really moving and a very rare opportunity.

I have one from the same year, #2096819-5. What is your serial number?

    1. Yes - and the first owner and his wife (95 years old) are still alive! their son was in the middle of the old (but beautifully refurbished) house sale and they decided to let the machine go.

      S/n is 1958660-5.

  4. Spectacular is the word. Congratulations on that beautiful and well preserved machine. Or rather more than a machine, also a historic document of itself when you know about some of the history and background. It really adds.

  5. I'm sure the previous owner is pleased that his well-cared-for machine has gone to an appreciative home.

  6. WOW - what a dream machine! We drive by barns out here in the country where I live, and we imagine what types of machines are sitting in piles of dust behind those oak panel doors - typewriters and sports cars. Those gems are out there in closets too - and you found a virtual museum piece! Very envious and happy for you at the same time. :-)

    1. Wouldn't it be nice to discover more of such hidden treasures? :) Hopefully they all see the light of day at some point where it is not too late for them to be a joy for someone.
