  1. Congratulations! I've always liked the looks of the Valentine.

  2. Great luck you've been having!

I like your little badges at the end of your entries, showing the typewriters responsible for the typecasts. Good idea.

    1. Some good luck, some bad - that's life. I've just been struck by the bad wrapper seller/clumsy courier combo so I guess it all levels out.

As for the badges - maybe I'll have my Forrest Gump moment and inspire someone to make real tin ones (and a fortune on the side). Or maybe a series of stamps - that might be something the typosphere would be interested in probably... Though I suppose stamps may have already been done somewhere in the past - I don't know.

  3. Well - i forgot to state the price in the end. it was £52. I would say not that bad since I see the same machine (with French layout) on French ebay starting at £127, on German ebay there are two: one (German layout - maybe a tad better condition + manual) for £349 (buy it now) and second (German layout) ongoing auction at £53.5 already and theres one on Polish auction site (German layout) starting around £100...

    1. Yes, that was a very good price. In the US they often bring $200-$300.

  4. Maybe it was the French layout that scared people off? Well - I think that first of all this is a great design piece and from what I read it was never hailed as a superb typewriter in its time. So the typing capabilites take a sort of back seat. And maybe I'm wrong but if I really wanted my Valentine with QWERTY layout my sneaky plan would be to get Underwood 315 on a cheap, swap skins and voila! Though sometimes you like something just the way it is...
